Pennsylvania WIC
The Pennsylvania Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides food vouchers, nutrition services, breastfeeding support, and other health resources to mothers and children from infancy to age 5.
Their goal is to help all of the 400,000+ eligible PA residents develop long-term healthy habits. However, a number of barriers prevent families and children from staying in the program past their first birthdays.

Our Process
Exploratory Research
We conducted 100+ interviews with PA WIC participants and staff. This led us to a number of insights that guided our design process.
Design
Over a 3 month period, we conducted a 4 week long longitudinal study and multiple rounds of usability testing to develop, improve, and test an SMS chatbot and App prototype.
