about our project

The MHCI Capstone Project is an 8-month-long project structured to cover the end-to-end design process of a product development lifecycle.

Working with faculty mentors and industry partners, capstone teams conduct user research to create user-centered designs and interactive prototypes to improve or innovate new applications for a client's existing product ecosystem. The project culminates with a presentation of the team's final prototypes at the end of the MHCI graduate program at CMU.

Raga Kavari

Raga has a background in Human-Computer Interaction and Design Innovation. Before realizing her love for research, she designed apps for research labs and startups. Raga’s experience with researching and building socially-inclusive design systems informs her passion for user advocacy.

Sofia is a Product Designer with a background in clinical research and device consulting. She enjoys learning about new spaces through her projects. When designing, she takes an evidence-based approach and applies systems-level thinking to her solutions to ensure a well rounded and considerate product.

Animesh is a Product Designer skilled at bridging understanding between design and technical teams in product-centered settings. Being a computer engineer-turned-designer, he empathizes with the needs of technical users and feels excited about bringing his interaction design knowledge to highly technical spaces.

Linda Xue

Linda is a UX Researcher and Designer who enjoys designing personalized and scaleable solutions with human and AI capabilities. On her free time, she experiments with emerging technology along with gaming to explore various forms of technological mediums. Previously, she worked at Walt Disney Studios and Virgin Galactic as an embedded strategic business partner for tech teams and the CTO.

Anna is a UX Consultant, Adjunct at CMU, Co-Chair of IxDA Pittsburgh. She is a pragmatic design practitioner and leader who finds joy in helping multi-disciplinary teams create opportunities for rewarding human-technology collaborations. I'm interested in multimodal product ecosystems, graceful human-computer interactions, and thoughtful applications of artificial intelligence.

Ben is a Technical leader at Cisco and adjunct faculty at CMU. Ben is a product-minded engineer who believes that the best products are built by interdisciplinary teams who deeply understand and empathize with users.
