Amelia manages the undergraduate programs in the Human-Computer Interaction Institute, which include the B.S. in HCI, the HCI Additional Major, HCI Minor, and the HCI concentration in the School of Computer Science. She is also the Academic Advisor to students in the HCI primary major, additional major, and concentration.
Her previous experience in higher education includes serving as the Program Manager for the graduate Film Division at Columbia University’s School of the Arts’ MFA program and producing their yearly Film Festival. Amelia has also worked with multiple Pittsburgh-based cultural and musical groups as a non-profit consultant.
She attended the Columbia-Juilliard joint program and studied voice, and earned a B.A. in Film Studies from Columbia University.
A student and practitioner of Iyengar yoga for over 35 years, Amelia is a certified yoga teacher and has trained in trauma-informed yoga, meditation, and restorative practices. When not at Carnegie Mellon, she is a professional classical singer who performs with the Pittsburgh Symphony and Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh.
