ZoomOpen

Adds spinning effects to windows when they open and close. Not very useful, but it is an animation that shows the origin of files/folders and allows the user to follow windows so that they don't just appear and disappear.

Fast Folders

Gives right click view of what is in folders without opening them, much like browsing for apps in Start > Programs. This could facilite the users' desire to browse while maintaining a view of a larger part of the hierarchy.

AB Commander

A Double pane view of Windows Explorer for easy viewing and copying, plus merge and sync. It can be used for networked files, so it seems it could be a very useful tool for collaborative work and/or versioning.

Google Desktop

This utility allows users to search through their own file system before searching the web. It can look through the file names and content of the following file types: Outlook emails, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, AIM chat logs, web sites, and text files.
