Design

By leveraging insights found from research, we have formulated guiding principles to inform our design process, prioritizing solutions that are concise, clear, immediate, reassuring, easily accessible, and personalized.

Guiding Principles

Using our “how might we” questions as prompts for ideation, we set out to establish guiding principles based directly off of our insights. Guiding principles serve to establish a reference point for designers, and help to guide informed design decisions. From our insights we determined that our designs would need to be:

IMMEDIATE
AND
DIRECT

Our research showed that patients had difficulty handling unexpected situations and preferred speaking directly with healthcare providers. For these reasons, our designs must:

• Provide patients with real-time responses

• Work effectively with unexpected situations

• Reduce the nurses’ burden

REASSURING

Our research shows that patients currently seek reassurance from direct conversations with healthcare providers. For this reason, our design must be:

• Leave patients with a feeling of comfort and peace

• Provide patients with a human-touch

• Build trust with the patient

• Offer clear next steps

EASY TO ACCESS

Our research shows that patients currently seek reassurance from direct conversations with healthcare providers. For this reason, our design must be:

• Accessible to patients of all technological ability levels

• Must not require other outside resources

PERSONALIZED

Our research shows that the current wound care process is not personalized beyond the clinic. For this reason our designs must be:

• Adaptable to different wound locations

• Adaptable to different lifestyles

• Easily adoptable by different demographics

CONCISE
AND
CLEAR

Our research shows that the current wound care process is not personalized beyond the clinic. For this reason our designs must be:

• Easy for the patients to understand and use

• Contain clearly categorized information
