Interactive 3D Manual
Three-dimensional view of devices with manual information overlaid
Through our interviews with customers, we found that manuals for electrical equipment are often lost and need to be searched for online. Even when they are kept, customers often find it easier to simply call support. The original manuals are hundreds of pages filled with paragraphs of text.
Different components and parts of switchgear devices can be removed or attached from all different angles. Inherently, it is most natural to interact with them as 3D objects. The 3D manual allows the user to rotate the device, zoom in on specific parts, and expand the device to view the inner workings.
Instead of searching through a table of contents, the user navigates the manual directly through the 3D model of the device. For example, they can troubleshoot a breaker that will not close by tapping on the manual ON button or the spring handle.
