We created an interactive Trip Planner to save guests time and simplify their booking experience at Nemacolin. Using logic rooted in machine learning and qualitative research, the tool takes in prospective guest preferences to curate a unique combination of room, experience, and dining recommendations.
Play with Figma PrototypeThe tool gives the guest the option to create an itinerary and make bookings all in one place, while also enabling the resort to capture key pieces of data to improve the guest experience and resort operations.
...need a personalized, easy way to explore all that the resort has to offer and plan their getaway prior to arrival
... wants to leverage data to provide personalized service, predict guest demand, and generate more bookings
Currently, less than 50% of guests make reservations for activities and dining prior to arrival. A key measure of the Trip Planner’s success is whether it would increase users’ likelihood to make bookings before their stay. The final design was tested with 25 participants representative of Nemacolin’s target market in comparative usability tests and semi-structured interviews.
We asked participants to describe their impression of Nemacolin before and after interacting with our design to see how our design influences the resort's brand image.
The final design of the Trip Planner offers three key features that meet both Nemacolin and guests' needs.
Allows guests to book on-the-go and brings five-star service into the digital guest experience
Leverages key pieces of guest data to curate offerings, reducing paradox of choice and streamlining resort operations
Empowers guest discovery of unique options and enables resort staff to continue to provide personalized experience on-site
