Roberto Clemente
Roberto Clemente lived a life of service, and leveraged the resources and influence he earned through his excellence on the field to better the lives of those he touched. He championed disadvantaged communities in both the United States and Puerto Rico. He expressed his incredible devotion to people at every scale, moving the world with big actions and little moments.
Whether he was raising donations for natural disaster victims or offering a piece of advice to a young fan, Clemente offered his time and energy freely, without hesitation.
While personally escorting supplies for earthquake victims in Nicaragua on December 31st, 1972, his plane went down in the Atlantic Ocean. He left behind his wife, Vera, and three young children, who went on to carry on his incredible work and legacy.
