Leah Teffera

I am passionate about the intersection of co-design, health, and learning. I am particularly interested in creating learning experiences that are meaningful, joyful and have long-term impact for participants, both within and outside of K-16 education.

I also am curious about how to best apply educational design principles to healthcare and health education: both in formal training environments, and more informal ones (e.g. patient self-education). My prior professional and academic experience was in human-centered EdTech design. As a research staff member & master’s student, I worked on projects around the design and evaluation of intelligent tutoring systems across domains and student populations.
This experience, along with me & my family's experiences navigating educational and health systems, informs my research practice.

Research Interests

My research interests include but are not limited to: AI literacy, women's health, accessibility in EdTech & computing, disability studies, critical AI and HCI studies.
