In recent years, China is more and more focused on innovation and design as it's desired to transform itself from "Made in China" to "Designed in China" or "Created in China". How are we doing in this dramatic change? In this talk, I introduce the development of design education of Zhejiang University in which we intend to combine art and technology from the beginning. And I will talk about the current innovation environment of design and technology in China. New creative companies with design brains such as Xiaomi are evolving very fast and links are forming among them. These connections are bursting innovation economy in China along with the government policies. With the rising market and the rising tastes, innovation companies can really change the future lives there and we will be part of it.
			Speaker's Bio
			
            
Cheng Yao is Deputy Director of Information Product Design Program, Zhejiang University. He received his Master degree in Industrial Design and PhD in Computer Science from Zhejiang University. He started teaching design courses back from 2003. He achieved and acts as a supervisor of many international design awards in Red Dot, IF and IDEA competitions. He also works for Engineering Research Center of Computer Aided Product Innovation Design, Ministry of Education where bring the design into reality.
