Atieh Taheri is a Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow in the Human-Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, working with Professors Jeff Bigham and Patrick Carrington. Atieh received her PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of California, Santa Barbara, where she was advised by Professor Misha Sra. Her research is driven by a passion for accessibility and inclusivity, particularly in the context of immersive technologies. Atieh specializes in developing innovative solutions that enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities.
Atieh’s work is characterized by a holistic assistive design approach that integrates multiple facets of interaction, sensation, and user experience. She is deeply committed to participatory design, involving users with disabilities throughout the development process to ensure their diverse needs and preferences are met. At HCII, Atieh is continuing to explore the intersections of accessibility, virtual reality, and user-centered design, aiming to create technologies that not only address the challenges faced by people with disabilities but also empower them to fully engage with digital worlds on their own terms.
