Many smartphone apps collect a great deal of personal information about individuals. Research by Shah Amini, Jialiu Lin, Jason Hong, and Norman Sadeh has been looking at how to use crowdsourcing techniques to find differences between what people expect an app to do and what an app does in reality. This research has been featured in the CBS Morning Show, New York Times, MIT Tech Review, Salon, and more.
