Description
This informal presentation will provide a peek into the future of Alice. A demo of the current progress with Alice 3 will be given by Dennis Cosgrove, the Alice team’s Project Scientist. In addition, a quick look will be given to an update for Alice 2 (Alice 2.2) and plans for collaborative work with Caitlin Kelleher on Looking Glass, successor to Storytelling Alice. Some of the human-computer interaction features of the new versions of Alice will be related to goals of the project.
Speaker's Bio
Dr. Wanda Dann, an active member of the Alice team for the last decade, has recently assumed leadership of the team. She is currently transitioning into a faculty position at Carnegie Mellon University from Associate Professor of Computer Science at Ithaca College. She is co-author of Learning to Program with Alice (Prentice-Hall, 2006, and brief edition, 2007), with Randy Pausch and Steve Cooper. Two additional textbooks on Alice are currently under contract with Pearson (Addison-Wesley and Prentice Hall). She has published numerous papers and articles on program visualization.
