Faculty Earn Google Research Awards
News
Five HCII faculty members have received 2015 Google Faculty Research Awards, which identify and support world-class faculty pursuing cutting-edge research in computer science and related areas that are beneficial to both the researchers and Google.
This year's HCII recipients include Associate Professor Jeff Bigham, Assistant Professor Chris Harrison, Associate Professor Jason Hong, Associate Professor Niki Kittur, and Herbert A. Simon Professor of Human-Computer Interaction Robert Kraut.
Each Faculty Research Award provides financial support for one graduate student for one year, as well as a Google sponsor who supports the project by discussing research directions, engaging with faculty and students, and enabling interactions between the project team and Google.
Google received more than 900 applications from 55 countries for this year's program, and funded 151 projects from that pool. The HCII faculty members join eight other Carnegie Mellon recipients this year.
