HCII Professor Jodi Forlizzi will deliver the keynote address at Persuasive Technology 2015. Now in its 10th year, Persuasive Tech focuses on sharing the results of science-based inquiries into the roles various disciplines like design, psychology, sociology and technology play in creating systems that support behavior change through ethical means. This year's conference, organized around the theme "Personal Empowerment Through Persuasive Design," will take place June 4–5 in Chicago and focus on new opportunities for developing more effective relationships between people and solutions
Forlizzi's current research interests include designing engaging, effective educational games; designing services that adapt to peoples' needs; and designing for healthcare. In addition to her role in the HCII, she is also the chief information officer for Pratter, a startup company that aims to create medical cost transparency throughout the U.S. by providing and monitoring medical costs for outpatient medical care before the time of purchase. Her talk, "Bringing HCI and Design to Healthcare," will show how design and HCI can be used to make advances in products and services to improve healthcare.
