Three alumni of the Human-Computer Interaction Institute’s Masters Program — Min Zhao, Diana Chen and Asim Mittal — helped Carnegie Mellon University teams dominate the competition at the Emirates Travel Hackathon at Microsoft’s Mountain View, Calif., campus, Sept. 21–22.
The two-day overnight hackathon brought more than 300 hackers out to work on travel-focused web or mobile applications. The guidelines suggested teams think beyond logistics to create “apps that help people experience the excitement of a vacation to the fullest extent.”
Carnegie Mellon teams, including students from the Silicon Valley campus, placed first and third in the competition. For more details, visit the CMU-SV web site: http://www.cmu.edu/silicon-valley/news-events/news/2013/emirates-hackathon.html
