HCII Is Hiring Tenure-Track Faculty

The Human-Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon University seeks faculty candidates with a strong track record in research, outstanding academic credentials, and an earned Ph.D. They should also have a strong interest in graduate and undergraduate education. Although outstanding candidates in any area of HCI are invited to apply, we are targeting candidates in the following two areas:
Creating compelling social experiences at scale
We are looking for a social computing researcher with deep technical expertise, whose research emphasizes the creation of large scale human-computer and human-human interactions. The candidate should have a demonstrable ability to collaborate across disciplines.
Constructing and evaluating environments that motivate creativity, growth and learning
We are looking for a candidate whose research emphasizes environments for creativity, growth or learning, broadly conceived. Candidates can work with any of a number of techniques including (but not limited to) games, narrative, story-telling, or persuasive technology, applied to any of a number of domains, including (but not limited to) health, sustainability, education, or learning in everyday life. The candidate should have a demonstrable ability to collaborate across disciplines.
The application process
Applications must be in PDF format and include curriculum vitae, research and teaching interest statements, 1–3 representative papers, and the names and email addresses of three or more individuals who have been asked to provide letters of reference. Applicants should arrange for reference letters to be sent directly to the Faculty Search Committee. The Search Committee will not directly request letters. Please reference HCII in your cover letter.
