HCII's Human-Watch Interaction Featured in Digital Trends
In the Media
The HCII's Future Interfaces Group and its work on smartwatch technology were recently featured in the Digital Trends article "Your Smartwatch Screen Becomes a Joystick in This Awesome Prototype." The article called out the group's project video, "Expanding the Input Expressivity of Smartwatches With Mechanical Pan, Twist, Tilt and Click," and noted the qualities that make the prototype and its interface unique.
"What's fascinating is that the video does more than simply prove that the device responds to tilts and twists," the article says. "It demonstrates how these experimental features might be applicable to everyday scenarios. The video shows just how easy it is to zoom in on a map, pan through calendar events and even play Doom, all without touching the screen."
"There’s certainly some interesting stuff going on at CMU that will make its way to our smartphones and wearables in the years to come. Here’s to hoping that day comes sooner rather than later."
