Hong on Privacy Concerns after DDoS Attack

HCII Associate Professor Jason Hong, a researcher on privacy and security, calls the recent DDoS attacks a very serious concern. He recently spoke with Computerworld regarding the Internet of Things-based DDoS attack and its implications on our current security and privacy priorities. 

"There are just so many of these devices that are relatively weak and insecure," he said. "A lot of these devices are being made by people who don't have a lot of experience building reliable software."

As more of our devices are connected to the Internet, researchers like Hong stress the importance of building security into the design and development process.
