Dr. Pedersen will give an overview of the research and job opportunities in Nissan’s Silicon Valley Research lab, with an emphasis on how autonomous and connected vehicle technology can immediately impact safety, fuel consumption and congestion of the current as well as the future transportation system. — Liam Pedersen is Deputy General Manager and Chief Technology Advisor at the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance Silicon Valley Lab.  His team does work in autonomous driving, transportations systems for smart cities, electric vehicles and vehicle to grid integration.  Prior to this he worked on robotic systems for planetary exploration at NASA’s Ames Research Center in California. He holds a Ph.D. in robotics from Carnegie Mellon University (for the first robotic discovery of a meteorite), and is the recipient of NASA’s Public Service Medal and the NSF Antarctic Service Medal.
