The HCII’s Tiramisu project made headlines as part of the Port Authority of Allegheny County’s announcement that 25 percent of its bus routes are included in the authority’s new Real Time Bus Arrival system. Recent coverage from WTAE-TV called out Tiramisu as one of the third-party apps available to access and share data that the bus’s onboard modems transmit via GPS to a real-time server. The app also allows users to generate their own real-time arrival information by sharing location traces as they ride buses and trains.
