Postdocs
Dr. Collins N. Vaye is a Postdoctoral Fellow in The Human-Computer Interaction Institute. He conducts research with the Edtech Fellows in the Mastercard Foundation Program and supervises Learning Engineers and UX designers on the Learning Sciences For Innovators Project. Dr. Vaye is a first-generation college graduate from Liberia whose work bridges engineering education, technology integration, and policy with a career goal centered on digital equity and institutional capacity-building in resource-constrained contexts. He earned his Ph.D. in Engineering and Computing Education and M.Sc. in Computer Engineering from Florida International University (FIU) and a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Liberia. His dissertation investigated Information and Communication Technology (ICT) integration in undergraduate engineering education in sub-Saharan Africa, focusing on Liberia, through an analysis of national ICT policies, university implementation strategies, and faculty practices. Over the past decade, He has led and supported ICT and STEM education initiatives across Africa, Central America, and the United States, facilitating professional development for more than 1,000 teachers and students while collaborating with institutions such as UNESCO, USAID, and multiple universities. His contributions to educational development and technology-enhanced learning environments have earned him recognition as a 2024 Edward A. Bouchet Graduate Honor Scholar and Donald H. Wulff Diversity Fellow. Beyond research, he is a committed mentor who founded Collins and Coffee, a global platform that fosters student growth through storytelling, mentorship, and professional development, building a vibrant community of connection, encouragement, and shared experience.
