Dan Gorchynsky

Born in Chicago and raised with a blend of traditional schooling during the week and Ukrainian school every Saturday, my formative years were spent in Door County, Wisconsin. These early experiences instilled a deep appreciation for culture, community, and storytelling, which continues to influence my professional journey.

I moved to Pittsburgh in 2012 to pursue a Master’s in Arts Management at Carnegie Mellon University while honing my skills as a Brand Strategist and UX Designer at a local marketing agency, Agency 1903. There, I led and designed digital experiences for diverse clients including ski resorts, law firms, and outdoor clothing companies, fostering my passion for creating user-centered solutions. In April 2020, I earned an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh while working full-time as a UX Architect at American Eagle Outfitters. My work has focused on designing impactful features across stores, the app, and the website, with a particular emphasis on service design.

Today, I bring my expertise to two dynamic roles. As an Adjunct Instructor for Digital Service Innovation, I co-teach human-centered design and service innovation frameworks, mentoring students through research, journey mapping, and prototyping to address complex digital challenges. Concurrently, as a Product Manager at American Eagle Outfitters, I lead initiatives to identify and execute cross-channel opportunities, aligning business objectives with customer needs across web, app, store, and social platforms. By leveraging data-driven insights and fostering collaboration among cross-functional teams, I aim to craft solutions that enhance customer experiences and deliver measurable impact.

This dual focus on education and innovation reflects my commitment to shaping meaningful interactions at the intersection of design, business, and technology. I am excited to teach, connect with students, and build on our shared experiences to foster growth and innovation.
