Andrew Moore, dean of Carnegie Mellon's School of Computer Science, will join a who's who of Pittsburgh to discuss how to optimize the city's future at Opt412, an afternoon of thought-provoking conversations designed to envision an even better future for Pittsburgh and its residents. Hosted by the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, the free event will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, in the University of Pittsburgh's David Lawrence Hall, Room 121.

The afternoon will feature keynote speaker Paul Graham, a former Pittsburgher and co-founder of Y Combinator, a start-up incubator that has funded more than a thousand startups. (Think Dropbox, Airbnb and Reddit.) Graham and other featured speakers, including Moore, DuoLingo's Luis Von Ahn, first female Facebook engineer Ruchi Sanghvi, Quora co-founder Charlie Cheever, and venture capitalist Clara Sieg, will share their thoughts on what could make the Steel City even better.

Opt412 is produced by the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy in association with the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon, and the City of Pittsburgh Department of Innovation and Performance. HCII faculty members Chris Harrison, Jim Morris and Amy Ogan have served on the event's organizing committee.
