Description

"Extended Reality for Everybody"

Technical advances in virtual, augmented reality, and mixed reality (XR) have paved the way for these immersive technologies to become increasingly mainstream; however, from a design perspective, there is still a high barrier to entry. A lot of my prior work was focused on investigating novel methods and tools to enable novice XR creators where I developed conceptual frameworks, rapid prototyping techniques, and a number of authoring tools to accelerate design and development. I will share examples of how this research and my work in the wider XR Initiative at the University of Michigan could increase adoption of XR in design and education, and will discuss some of the key issues related to privacy, accessibility, and inclusion that I am addressing in my current research.
