Hawking Introduces WorldKit on "Science of the Future"
In the Media
National Geographic Channel's "Stephen Hawking's Science of the Future" recently featured the HCII's WorldKit project in the episode "Perfect City." WorldKit, a collaboration between Assistant Professor Chris Harrison, Professor Scott Hudson and Ph.D. student Robert Xiao, aims to create interactive interfaces where and when we need them in the world.
Hawking introduced the segment on the program, saying that while touchscreens have unlocked new ways to communicate with the digital world, the smart homes and offices we've long imagined are still not reality. "In Pittsburgh, researchers at Carnegie Mellon University are taking interactive technology to a new level," the renowned physicist said. He also noted that the HCII's work will make current interfaces seem primitive.
