Paulo Carvalho is an assistant professor in the Human-Computer Interaction Institute. His research sits at the intersection of learning science and educational technology, investigating how the cognitive, metacognitive, and motivational processes of learners can inform the design of more effective, practice-first learning technologies. He designs, deploys, and evaluates AI-driven adaptive systems and studies how to scale them effectively into real classrooms.
