Look closer -- the sixteen squares of a quilt found in 3513 Newell-Simon Hall share a quarter-century of technological developments and the birth of the wearable computing industry.
The quilt, which belongs to Dan Siewiorek, Buhl University Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering and Computer Science, is comprised of 12” squares cut from t-shirts from the course, “Rapid Prototyping of Computer Systems.”
Daniel P. Siewiorek, the Buhl University Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science in the Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII), has been named the 2018 recipient of the IEEE Computer Society Taylor L. Booth Education Award.
For several of the majors in the Human-Computer Interaction Institute, the spring semester is synonymous with capstone projects.
From undergrads to PhDs, more than 110 students attended the Human-Computer Interaction Institute’s informal networking event, HCII Connect, last week. The third annual event was held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 in the Atrium of Newell-Simon Hall at 5:00 p.m.
Increased employer interest in this year’s HCII Connect prompted organizers to move the event to a larger venue just a few weeks before the event. The event saw more than 40 percent increases in both student attendance and employer registration this year.
